How to get to Şirince: from Selçuk, İzmir and Kuşadası
Minibus and car from Selçuk, parking, the airport link and road tips.
Şirince is a historic village in the hills behind Ephesus, part of the Selçuk district of İzmir. The easiest way to get there is to come to Selçuk first; the winding road from Selçuk to Şirince is about 8 km.
By minibus from Selçuk
Minibuses (dolmuş) leave Selçuk bus station for Şirince throughout the day. The ride takes about 15–20 minutes and ends at the square by the village entrance. At weekends and on holidays expect queues for the return trip.
By car
From central Selçuk, follow the Şirince signs up through vineyards and olive groves. The village lanes are narrow and steep, so cars stay in the car parks at the entrance and the centre is explored on foot.
From İzmir, the airport and Kuşadası
From İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport you can reach Selçuk by motorway or by train (İZBAN and regional train connections). Minibuses run regularly from Kuşadası to Selçuk, where you change to the Şirince minibus.
- Arrive early at weekends for a quieter car park and village.
- The road is winding; drive carefully, especially in the evening.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the lanes are stone-paved and steep.
